The Sound of Maturity!The Tokyo Symphony Orchestras growth in recent years has been even more remarkable than ever before. One indication of this is the orchestras receipt of the Concert Performance Award (Japanese Artist) at the 21st Music Pen Club Music Awards (2008); indeed, some music magazines have even ranked it among the top orchestras in Japan. A major driving force behind this success is Hubert Soudant, who succeeded Kazuyoshi Akiyamawho devoted 40 years of his life to nurturing the Tokyo Symphony Orchestraas Music Director.Hubert Soudant was born in Maastricht, the Netherlands, in 1946. He won the Besanon International Conducting Competition (1971) and the Guido Cantelli International Competition (1975), and took second place at the Karajan International Conducting Competition (1971); yet he never let his fame go to his head; instead, he steadily built his career, primarily in Europ
