A collection of three modern guitar concertos performed by the multi-award-winning Danish guitarist Jakob Bans. Coriglianos The Minstrel, commissioned by the renowned guitarist Sharon Izbin, draws inspiration from the works of medieval minstrels; it is a concerto featuring several melodies sung by poets and striking percussion. The other two pieces were inspired by this work by Corigliano: Karavassiliss Saudade, which incorporates ancient Greek folk songs, and Siegels Chaconne, in which a slow melody is developed through variations. Both were composed for Bans, who also contributed ideas during the compositional process. Each piece possesses an exotic quality and a lyrical atmosphere, fully showcasing the guitars virtuosic technique.Naxos Japan
