Festiger (1948) grew up in Palo Alto, Northern California, and studied composition at the University of California, Berkeleys School of Music. For a time, he was deeply immersed in jazz and even worked as a jazz guitarist and bandleader. Although his works do not directly employ jazz idioms, these elements are considered to be embedded in the roots of his compositions, making them so stimulating that they have been described as stirring the emotions and vividly conjuring scenes in the mind upon listening. Travel Diary, which seems to delve into the depths of each listeners soul, is as mysterious as a journey through an uncertain fog where one cannot see what lies ahead. The Arrival of an Era, featuring poetry by Dennis Johnson; The Law of Motion, depicted by a cello-centered ensemble; and The Foretold Dream, with its enigmatic piano chordsthis is music that explores infin
