Jimi Tenor Band

Finnish musician Jimi Tenor, who turns 60 this year, releases his first album under his band’s name on Bureau B. Tenor first gained attention in the 1990s with his fusion of lounge jazz and acid techno on labels such as Sahko and Warp, and later moved on to African music. He has since moved on to African music. Transcending genres, he has combined electronica, Afrobeat, and spiritual jazz in his own unique way. Formed in Helsinki during the pandemic, the current band has gained experience in clubs and festivals, and the recordings are mainly one-shot recordings as well as live performances. All eight songs are about space and love, and radiate an irresistible exuberance. The album also includes “Shine All Night” featuring Ghanaian diva Florence Adooni. This is an impressive debut work that creates a dense sound world filled with vibrancy!
