A series in which John Wilson and the Sinfonia of London record works from Broadways golden age in their unabridged versions. Based on a short story by Damon Lannian, *Guys & Dolls* is a lighthearted comedy set in New Yorks underworld that depicts a gamblers love and a high-stakes gamble. Since its premiere in 1950, it has enjoyed a long run of over 1,200 performances and won a Tony Award. It has been adapted into a film and staged by the Takarazuka Revue in Japan, remaining popular to this day. For this recording, the original orchestral score from the premierewhich had been lostwas meticulously reconstructed. The cast brings together top London stars, including Sir Thomas Allenwho was persuaded by the conductor to come out of retirementalongside veterans like Sierra Boggess and Nathaniel Hackman, who have been active on Broadway since 2005 and are highly acclaimed by Wilson. Through passionate
