While his works for guitar are relatively well-known, this album features his orchestral compositions. Works such as Springwhich is reminiscent of Respighimake full use of the orchestras rich texture and offer a completely different flavor from the sweet melodies of Estrellita, showcasing his talent as a composer. Additionally, Mexican Sketches, composed in 1947, is a dynamic work that incorporates elements of Mexicos indigenous culture. The effective use of percussion provides a wonderful accent.
