Includes a mini-talk by Szigeti himself!]Jzsef Szigeti (18921973) earned deep respect not only from music lovers but also from subsequent generations of violinists through his performances and interpretations, which were underpinned by exceptional intellect and erudition. Although Szigeti left behind numerous landmark recordings of Classical and Romantic works, he was concerned that concert programs tended to rely too heavily on standard masterpieces, and he was concerned that audiences would come to listen only to pieces they already knew. Consequently, in the mid-1950s, he organized a series of concerts titled 11 Masterpieces of the 20th Century, spanning three days, which he performed in various locations. This recording features the program from the third day of that series. All of the pie
