Verdis (18131901) *La Traviata* is one of the most popular productions at the Opera House. Violetta, a courtesan who is not even allowed to seek true love, meets Alfredo, a simple-hearted young man. She gives up her glamorous life to live a secluded life with him in the countryside, but when Alfredos father arrives, he naturally refuses to allow it and demands that Violetta step aside, citing Alfredos sisters upcoming wedding as the reason. For the sake of the one I love, Violetta gracefully steps aside. The misunderstanding that arises here is resolved in the final act, but by then it is already too late In the original libretto, Alfredo did not visit her deathbed, but Piave grants these tragic lovers on
