Originally obtained by Epitagraph (formerly Epitaphon) from the ORF archives. The sound is very good! This 2-CD set of the entire concert of the day (plus the overture to Pfitzner’s “Heilbronn’s Ktchen”) is now available on one CD, coupling Brahms and Reger for a more affordable price. Both are masterful performances. Especially Brahms No. 4 was highly praised by both Tadao Koishi and Kuniyoshi Uno in “Record Geijutsu” magazine (May 2009 issue), and is also featured as the best disc of the same piece (No. 3 for Koishi and No. 2 for Uno) in “New Edition: Masterpieces 300” (published by Ongaku no Tomo Publishing) now on sale.
