Seansen’s music is vague and elusive, yet has a definite presence. The album features two main pieces from the trilogy “Butterflies. Mignon (included on 8.226134), Rosenbad, and Pantomime, the three pieces in “Butterflies” share a common musical theme of fear, hope, and nostalgia, with the piano playing an important role. The piano is played here by Gislinge, Seansen’s wife. A leading Scandinavian pianist, she also gives a dreamy performance in the solo piece “Fantasia Appassionata.
