Yutaka Oguri, a composer born in Osaka. Oguri first discovered his passion for music while playing the French horn in a wind ensemble during his time at a commercial school. He went on to study the instrument in earnest in Tokyo and joined the Kansai Symphony Orchestra (later the Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra) in 1950. While active as a horn player, he continued to hone his skills as a composer. Encouraged by Takashi Asahina, with whom he had been friends since his time in Tokyo, he began to portray Osakaa city proud of its unique culturethrough music. This included the talkative and rich linguistic culture unique to Osaka, a city that flourished as a center of commerce, as well as performing arts such as Kamigata Rakugo and Shochiku Shinkigeki.
