Founded in 1923, the ensemble was renamed the Osaka City Music Ensemble (Osaka City Music) in 1946 as a wind orchestra for the citizens. April 2010 marked exactly 50 years since its first regular concert in April 1960, making it the longest-running series of regular performances by a professional wind orchestra in Japan. In that sense, the 101st regular concert held on November 2, 2010, at The Symphony Hall marked an important and memorable first step for the Osaka City Music Corps as it looks toward the next 50 years. This CD features a live recording of that 101st regular concert.The program for that evening, titled The Potential of Wind Music, was truly fitting for that first step.
