About Takeo WatanabeThe man who wrote the theme songs and background scores everyone knows, from Star of the Giants (Kyojin no Hoshi) to Mobile Suit Gundam: that was the composer Takeo Watanabe (1933-1989). Born the eldest son of the composer Urato Watanabe, he came to music by helping with his father’s work. Listening to American jazz on FEN, the US forces radio network, he also mastered the drums and popular music.He then went to Paris to study composition at the highest level before returning to Japan.
