Volume 5 of the Piano Sonatas by Leopold Koeluh, a composer from Bohemia. Among the sonatas written for the early fortepiano, his body of workcomprising some 50 piecesstands out and serves as a bridge connecting Haydn, Beethoven, and Schubert. The sonatas included in this recording were written in 1785, during a particularly productive period for Koeluh, who had begun his career as a music publisher the previous year. New Zealand pianist Kemp English performs on period-style replicas. Recorded in 2011. (C)RS
