Ren Jacobs, a master of the ancient music world, is now a conductor who has given many famous performances, but until the early 1990s, he was also known as a countertenor. Jacobs was born on October 30, 1946 in Ghent, a town in northern Belgium. As a child, he was a member of the choir of Ghent Cathedral.
