This marks Christian Jrvis debut on SONYCLASSICAL. For this Estonian-born conductor, performing the music of his compatriot Prt is sure to be a memorable occasion. (His father, Neeme, also recorded Symphony No. 3 in 1997.) Stabat Mater is one of Prts most important works; while it is typically performed by early music ensembles using non-vibrato and a single performer per part, this recording employs a string orchestra and choir to achieve a deeper expressiveness.
