This is the first in a series of commemorative releases marking the visit of conductor Christian Jrvi, who will perform in Japan in October 2013 and March 2014. This album features a new recording (from 2013) of Orffs masterpiece *Carmina Burana*, which Christian also performed at his inaugural concert as music director of the MDR Symphony Orchestra. Under Christians baton, the dormant MDR Symphony Orchestra comes to life, resulting in a performance unlike anything anyone has ever heard before. (C)RS
