Telemanns (16811767) body of work is incredibly wide-ranging; it is no exaggeration to say that it covered nearly every genre that existed at the time. While he makes free and creative use of a wide variety of instruments throughout his works, the essence of his music lies in the cantabile style, with each instrument singing out the melody resoundingly while fully showcasing its unique characteristics. Incorporating French-style forms that were beginning to gain popularity at the time, while at other times evoking the influence of Polish folk music, this rich repertoire is performed magnificently and vibrantly by *Le Accademia Giocosa*, an ensemble led by Stefan Schilli, principal oboist of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra.
