Stunning Beauty!Vocal Works by KapusbergerA collection of vocal works by Kapusberger, who is renowned as a master of the theorbo, is now available.Kapsberger was born in Venice to German parents. He spent nearly his entire life in Italy. After marrying, he moved to Rome, where he made a name for himself as a master theorbo player, performing in the circles of the upper classes. In Rome, he was also known as Il Tedesco (Italian for the German). While he was a master of the theorbo, he also possessed a beautiful voice, and his first published score was a collection of madrigals (1608/09). Although these works are still rarely performed today, they are all pieces in which the music is beautifully fused with the poetic quality of the text.
