Altercat is reissuing the bands sole 1980 album, recorded by a group featuring five Argentine jazz musicians and the legendary Uruguayan Ruben Rada. Ruben Rada, then 35, was in the midst of a difficult period. A failed romantic relationship was followed by a string of poorly attended concerts in Montevideo. Having invented candombe rock with El Quinto and deeply explored jazz-funk with Totem and Opa, he traveled to Buenos Aires in search of a fresh start and formed La Banda with renowned local musicians.
