Born and raised in New York, she studied under Billy Harper and Gary Barts at the New School for Music. She has garnered attention for her sound that blends jazz, funk, and R&B, and has performed with artists such as Missy Elliott, Alicia Keys, Stevie Wonder, and Gregory Porter. She is a prodigious talent who has released albums such as *Pursuance: The Coltranes*a tribute to Coltranes worksas well as the 2023 album *Phoenix* (nominated for three Grammy Awards) and *Phoenix Reimagined*, and boasts a total of six Grammy nominations.
