It was a unique convent that accepted women from royal and noble families, and their monastic life was enriched by numerous Latin chants. These chants were compiled in the 14th century into the Las Huelgas Manuscript, which contains 45 monophonic works (20 sequences, 5 conductus, and 10 tropes of the Benedictus) and 141 polyphonic works.
