The contemporary French composer Petitgirard (1950) has consistently written and released a series of controversial worksranging from symphonies to film scores to operas. Among these, the opera adaptation of *The Elephant Man* (Joseph Merrick) caused quite a stir. This sad and hopeless story undoubtedly left a thorn in the hearts of the audience, evoking emotions distinct from those of the film. His latest opera, *Guru*, depicts a cult religion and the human dramas surrounding it. From the moment the protagonist becomes convinced that I am the chosen one, the countdown to his madness and death begins. With the exception of Marie, who tries to stop him, the other characters are gradually drawn into his madness.Naxos Japan
