Pianist Zilke Avenhaus reportedly had long wanted to record the The Trout Quintet, and this project has now come to fruition as a rare album. Five composers each wrote a piece featuring a specific instrument as the protagonist; while all are based on the Trout theme, the resulting works have entirely different characters.
