The prestigious House of Schwarzenberg, based at esk Krumlov Castle in the Czech Republic, formed a new wind ensemble (Harmonimusik) in 1771, reviving the castles musical tradition. Although the wave of double-reed woodwind chamber music they pioneered reached its peak in Vienna in the late 18th century, it was subsequently forgotten for a long time. This series combines the vast collection of surviving sheet music with contemporary works in an effort to bridge the past and the present. Volume 1 features performances by the Ronark Oboe Trio of Beethovens Trio, Op. 87written for the legendary virtuosos, the Timmer Brothers, who served the princely family and were active in the 1790sas well as Variations on the Theme of Ote o Dousho, WoO 28.
