It illustrates how the trio sonata form, which originated in Italy in the 17th century, evolved approximately a century later. In addition to Vivaldis well-known La Folia, this album reveals that the original composition for Stravinskys Pulcinella or Italian Suite was not by Pergolesi but by Domenico Gallo; the Sonata No. 1 in G Major resounds with the very same melody as the Pulcinella overture, which is truly moving.
