The debut album from the most important band in psychedelic cumbia-chicha!Los Chapis are a band from Wankayo, Peru. They are known for playing a key role in the development and popularization of chicha music. In 1981, they released their debut album, *Los Autenticos*, on the *Horoscopo* label. The album cover art is clearly an homage to the Ramones album *Road to Ruin*.However, aside from the use of electric guitars (albeit with a completely different playing style), the musical style of this album bears no resemblance to that of the punk band from Queens. Rather, this album showcases all the defining characteristics of chicha: the leading role of the electric guitar in the Peruvian cumbia style, and above all, the prominence of the vocals.
