The “Originale” series reissues rare recordings on period instruments from the long-established early music labels Teldec & Erato. This album features Charpentiers “Requiem,” a work rarely performed. Of the three existing versions, this recording includes the one believed to have been composed around 1690. The interplay between the sweet tone of the flute traverso and the choir creates a uniquely beautiful atmosphere on this recording. (C)RS
