In 2003, Kotama Mako (G&Vo) formed the precursor band Babylon. They changed their name to Magdala Juen in 2007. After the name change, they dedicated themselves to a dark, indigenous doom rock sound with Japanese lyrics. In 2008, they released an album via Bonten Records. Starting with their 3rd album “Jingai Kitan,” they released through their own label. They have a strong core fanbase both in Japan and overseas, including a tour in China in 2019. After several lineup changes, they currently operate as a two-piece band featuring guitar/vocals and drums. This work is their second release as a two-piece and their fifth full-length album. The title draws from the alias of Mary Magdalene, referenced in the band name. Songs of resignation, base desires, and perversion follow one after another, concluding with a sense of resignation. It unfolds like a play.
