Description:

Artur Malawski was a Polish composer, violinist, and conductor. As a young man, he showed great promise as a violin virtuoso, but an injury to his left hand forced him to give up performing and devote himself to teaching and composing. Although he died suddenly in 1957 at the age of 53, his works are highly acclaimed and have contributed greatly to the development of contemporary Polish music. Malawski’s orchestral music is characterized by folk elements and powerful compositions, and shares similarities with his contemporary composer, Lutoslawski. His music is characterized by a combination of varied rhythms and contrasting melodies, making a strong impression.
