RVWs First Full-Length Opera, *Hugh the Bull-Chaser*!A remastered version of a rare 1924 recording!Albion Records, the in-house label of the Vaughan Williams Society, has been dedicated to showcasing Vaughan Williamss lesser-known, long-forgotten, and unpublished works. This album features Vaughan Williams first full-length opera, *Hugh the Cattle-Driver*.*Hugh the Cattle-Driver* was completed before World War I and premiered in 1924 under the baton of Malcolm Sargent (then 29 years old). Later that year, Sargent recorded approximately half of the opera with the British National Opera Company. Although this recording had been remastered in the past, for this release, renowned engineer Peter Reynolds created a new master directly from the original 78-rpm discs. Thanks to advances in audio technology, he has succeeded in achieving a cleaner sound. The album is paired with remastered recordings
