Mari Fukumoto plays a monumental organ from Northern GermanyThe Hus/Schnittger organ at St. Cosme et St. Damiani Church in Stade is one of the most famous baroque organs in Europe. It is a magnificent instrument with three hand keys, pedals, and 42 stops, built by organ builder Berend Huss in 1675 with his young cousin Alp Schnittger. Schnittger has since become a legendary organ builder and a major force in the development of organ music in northern Germany. The first to play this Stade organ was Vincent Lbeck. He was fascinated by the Schnittger organ and later moved to Hamburg, where he became the player of the largest Schnittger organ in the world. In this album, you can hear his works alongside those of Hamburg’s senior composers, Wechtman and Scheidemann. Also included are works by J.S.
