This work by Vieri Mura, a native of Sardinia, documents his long-standing relationship with Maria Teresa Pirrigheddu, a traditional singer from the northern part of the island. Their relationship, which began through music, eventually developed into a deep, family-like bond. Recorded on portable equipment, this work naturally captures Maria Teresas daily life, the ambient sounds of the island, and the changing of the seasons. Maria Teresa sings cantosachiterratraditional Sardinian songs passed down orallyaccompanied by Vieris minimalist guitar and organ playing. Now 84 years old, her voice combines suppleness with the nuances of time, lending new meaning to these ancient songs. A work filled with profound beauty and hope, quietly encapsulating the memories of the land and its people.
