Two classic trumpet concertos performed by a young trumpet player and a veteran conductor.Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto was composed in 1796, when Haydn was 64 years old and living in Vienna.Hummel’s trumpet concerto was written seven years later, in 1803, and one is sometimes surprised by the parts that sound exactly like the Haffner Symphony. Hummel was 25 years old at the time, and since he had studied organ under Haydn, he was recommended by Haydn to become the concertmaster of the Esterhzy Orchestra the following year in 1804, and soon after Haydn resigned as court music director, he succeeded him, a position he held for seven years. The young Sicilian virtuoso Marianne Lee (Marianne Musotto Lee-Greni) and Martin Sieghardt, well-known in Japan, conduct the Domenico Mazzocchi del Civita Chamber Orchestra in this concert.
