The year 2024 marks the 200th anniversary of Bruckners birth. To commemorate this, the third installment of the #bruckner2024 projectan initiative to record all versions of Bruckners symphoniesis now available.This installment features the Symphony in D minor, commonly known as No. 0. Although this work was completed around 1869after Symphony No. 1Bruckner did not assign it a number when he organized his works in 1895, instead marking it Die Nullte (The Null). However, Bruckner did not dispose of the score but kept it. Bruckner scholar Hawkshaw writes in the liner notes, Perhaps Bruckner left the judgment of this works value to posterity.
