Matan Porat performs Bill Evans’ masterpiece “Waltz for Debby”! Matan Porat, a familiar face at the Forgernay Music Festival, is a pianist born in Tel Aviv in 1982, who is also a composer of note. His latest release is a concept album of dances. The title is a tribute to his beloved daughter, the pianist Zoe. The album is a collection of piano pieces in various dance forms from Couperin to the Ades, but the selection is very elaborate: you can hear Porat’s performance of Bill Evans’ jazz masterpiece “Waltz for Debby,” and Porat’s “Waltz for Bill” is the return song. Also to be heard is Porat’s arrangement for human use of Nancarrow’s Exercises for Automatic Piano. King International
