This CD is a collection of works for viola and piano by the American composer Amy Beach (18671944)though many of the pieces are actually arrangements of her compositions originally written for other instruments, such as the violin. Beachs music, filled with tenderness and compassion, pairs well with the viola, and the performances are a pleasure to listen to.Matteo Amadagi has served as a clarinetist with the orchestra of La Scala in Milan since 2011. He is also a scholar of Amy Beach and is reportedly studying her autograph scores held by the University of New Hampshire Library.
