Maya Bayser is a cellist with an Argentine father and French mother. Hailed by the Washington Post as “the queen who rules the avant-garde,” she has collaborated with many artists, and the video of her TED talk has been viewed by over a million people, all of whom find her fascinating. This album was commissioned by Maya and the work is dedicated to her. The Day” intertwines an unaccompanied cello with a narrative that mumbles the words “I am…” incessantly, and “World to Come” mixes Maya’s own vocals with her own.
