The latest release from MelainaKol, the solo project of Nashville-based Logan Hornyak, is a work that fuses classical music with ambient and house music sensibilities. Departing from his previous style centered on guitar and electronic music, this album was created around the cello and harpwhich he taught himselfand the piano, an instrument he has played since childhood. By meticulously layering and looping performances on classical instruments, he expresses the structural beauty of electronic music using only acoustic instruments. Recorded at his home and studio in Tennessee, the album is characterized by a raw, high-fidelity sound achieved by minimizing the use of effects. In contrast to his previous works, which reflected the mania and turmoil of his early twenties, this album strongly reflects Hornyaks current calm and stable state of mind.
