Composer Sunleif Rasmussen is from the Faroe Islands. He studied composition and electronic music at the Royal Danish Academy of Music and, in collaboration with DIEM (the Danish Institute for Electroacoustic Music), released several electronic music works. In 2002, he won the Nordic Council Music Prize for his Symphony No. 1, Oceanic Days, which catapulted him into the spotlight; since then, he has released numerous works. In recent years, he has been actively composing recorder works featuring the virtuoso Mikala Petri. This album brings together works written for Petri between 2009 and 2020.Flow and Fantasia on Sorrow and Joy are his latest works, making their world premiere recordings on this album.
