The quintet toured Scandinavia and Europe, and this two-CD set compiles live recordings from Berlin, Stockholm, and Rotterdam.Miles delivers inspired, versatile, and stimulating performances throughout, while Wayne Shorters alternating use of tenor and soprano saxophones is particularly powerful in Rotterdam and creates a strangely constructivist impression in Berlin. Chick Corea employs his unique percussive technique on the electric piano, interweaving light counter melodies, explosive sequences of supporting chords, and abrupt, unconventional clusters with shocking, circuitous, and eccentric solos.
