Shumsky, who made his debut at the age of 7 with the Philadelphia Orchestra under Stokowski, did not perform in Europe for a long time after World War II, and his fame remained in the United States. That all changed with his debut recital in London in 1981, a sensational success that led to a flood of requests for performances and recordings, and several recordings were made, mainly for British labels. This Mozart recording was made in 1985 and released on LP by EMI as EL2703554.
