Although they share the same last name, this Georg Schumann (18661952) was not a descendant of the famous Robert. However, born into a musical family, Georg grew up to be a talented pianist who could effortlessly perform concertos from a young age, and great things were expected of him musically. That said, he had no interest in a career as a soloist; he preferred to perform chamber music with his school friends and devoted himself to composing chamber music throughout his life. This Piano Trio No. 1 was composed while he was gaining experience as a conductor in Bremen, and it is filled with musical ideas brimming with youthful passion. The Second Piano Trio was composed around 1916 and features a rich style that prominently showcases the characteristics of the late Romantic period.Naxos Japan
