Ejin Kriegel displayed a talent for the violin from an early age. After studying composition with Kerloitera leading figure in the Brazilian compositional scenein Rio de Janeiro, he moved to the United States at the invitation of Copland and studied at Tanglewood, Juilliard, and other institutions. After briefly returning to Brazil, he studied under Berklee at the Royal Academy of Music in the United Kingdom. Upon his return to Brazil, he continued composing while also serving as conductor of a radio orchestra and director of music programs, where he introduced the latest trends from Europe and the United States, thereby influencing the Brazilian music scene. His compositional style evolved through serialism and neoclassicism toward a fusion of tradition and the avant-garde, allowing listeners to enjoy a variety of expressions depending on the period in which the works were composed.
