Halvorsen from Norway and Nielsen from Denmark. And Svendsen, also from Norway. This is a collection of violin works by three Scandinavian composers. Halvorsen, originally an accomplished violinist, responded to several newspaper interviews in the spring of 1907 by saying, “I am now working on a violin concerto,” and the Norwegian music world was eager to see the work completed. However, the self-taught composer did not have the confidence to finish the work (even though he had previously worked on arrangements and smaller pieces), and in the end, he was unable to publish the concerto. However, when Halvorsen heard Kathleen Perlow, a talented 17-year-old Canadian violinist, play the concerto, he was impressed by her virtuosity and finally completed it in the fall of 1908. The following year, the concerto was premiered in her performance.Audiences gave the piece great acclaim, but no othe
