“Mozart is the most romantic composer,” says Nikolaus Harnoncourt. Harnoncourt incorporated the musical language of the period into an orchestra playing modern instruments. The “Haffner Serenade” was born from the fusion of the traditional sound of the Dresden Staatskapelle with Mozart’s musical language. Also included is the humorous Serenata Notturna, performed by the Vienna Concentus Musicus. Recorded in 1987 and 1985. (C)RS
