A prodigious talent highly praised by artists such as Bashmet and Gerhard Schulz, he won the 2006 German Music Competition, as well as the 2005 ORF International Viola Competition; he has also taken first prize at the 2005 Karl Flesch Competition and the Primrose Viola Competition. He has already released five solo albums on Sony Classical. M. Hornung was born in Augsburg in 1986. He began studying with Elder Isakasse in 1995 and also studied under T. Grossenbauer and D. Gerlingas. In 2005, he won the German Music Competition.
