At the time, the renowned singer Flagstar had stepped away from performing due to a falling-out with EMI. However, she had not truly decided to end her singing career; she believed that if the opportunity aroseparticularly if it came from another record labelshe might sing again. Upon hearing these rumors, renowned producer John Karshaw first asked her if she would be interested in giving a song recital and recording an LP of Wagner (18131883). In reality, however, she had hoped that her performance of *Gtterdmmerung*, which she had sung for Norwegian radio at that time, would be released as a commercial record. Since that performance contained significant omissions and imperfections, Karshaw devised a plan to schedule recording sessions to fill in the gaps (though, of course, not everything could be fully restored, and some omissions remain). Of course, there were countless problems, but Ka
