The prestigious Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra performs a diverse selection of works by Finnish roots music composer Viljam NytkskiThe Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra, one of Finlands most internationally renowned orchestras, was founded in 1972 by conductor Juha Kangas as a student orchestra in Kokkola, in the central province of Pohjanmaa. It was reorganized as a professional orchestra in 1989. Since 2013, Sakari Oramo has served as artistic director, succeeding Kangas, and in the fall of 2019, Maroj Broman of Sweden assumed the role of music director.An album commemorating the orchestras 50th anniversary will feature the music of roots music composer Viljami Niittykoski (18951985).
