Pasquini was active in the period between Frescobaldi and Domenico Scarlatti. He left mainly keyboard works, and Brilliant Classics has released his harpsichord sonata and organ sonata, among others. On the other hand, he also left more than 70 cantatas, which are concise and dramatic cantatas for one or two voices with basso continuo accompaniment, like those written by the young Handel. Most of the vocal pieces have never been published, making this new recording an extremely valuable and long-awaited addition to the repertoire.
